Anindo Banerjee’s debut film is devoted to Charles Spencer Chaplin. But Chaplin is a good deal more of a celluloid tribute to the ‘Little Tramp’ Chaplin created than to the person who created it. Convinced of the need to infuse pathos into a tale to focus on comedy, Charlie Chaplin used a combination of slapstick, sympathy, irony, and satire to relate simple tales of a tramp drawing joy out of his marginalized lifestyle through make-consider conditions and relationships. It changed into a revolution. In the middle lay the lovely concept of pathos underlying comedy.
